Cross-section steering drafts are not identical, therefore the left draft is designated by a letter "L", and right — the letter "R". The arrangement of labels is shown on fig. 262 . If at carrying out the checks described further you establish that cross-section steering drafts are faulty, it is possible to replace them, without removing the steering mechanism:

- covers of hinges should not be damaged;

- start the engine. Turn forward wheels in any party and, holding the hinge of cross-section steering draft a hand, twist a steering wheel to the right-to the left (operation is carried out together). If you notice the increased gap, replace the hinge;

- raise the car in front and strongly pull cross-section steering draft forward-back. If in the hinge it is felt люфт, replace the hinge;

- in the same way check the internal hinge. For this purpose remove a sealing cuff of a steering. If at check of the internal hinge it will be found люфт, completely replace cross-section steering draft.
