On sale there is laying of a head of the block of cylinders which have various thickness. The thickness of laying of a head of the block of cylinders depends on pistons over a surface of the block of cylinders how act. If you change only a head of the block of cylinders or again establish an old head of the block of cylinders with new laying, new laying can be bought, having looked, how many is available notches or openings from laying. Besides, it is possible to look at number of a spare detail of old laying.
If replacement of pistons, details of the krivoshipno-shatunny mechanism or the block of cylinders is made, it is necessary to measure anew distance on which pistons over a head of the block of cylinders act.

To define thickness of laying of a head of the block of cylinders it is necessary to put one of pistons in situation VMT and by means of a ruler and the indicator to define as far as the bottom of the piston acts over a surface of the block of cylinders (see fig. 409 ). Having measured this distance and using the data provided below, define thickness of laying of a head of the block of cylinders.

Laying of a head of the block of cylinders is marked by figures 1, 2 or 3 or is designated by openings (fig. 408) . The arrow shows number of a spare detail on laying of a head of the block of cylinders. If laying of a head of the block of cylinders is established correctly, this number can be read, looking at laying of a head of the block of cylinders from above.

As it was already told, laying of a head of the block of cylinders can be marked by means of the punched openings. In this case it is necessary to read not «quantity of notches», and «quantity of openings».
For carrying out measurement establish an indicator pin on the piston, put value of the measuring device on a zero, and then shift a pin on carefully cleared surface of the unit. The received size is equal to distance on which the piston acts from a head of the block of cylinders. Depth badly gives in to measurement as it is very insignificant. It is necessary to determine number of laying by the catalog of spare parts.

There are the special directing bolts, serving to align a head of the block of cylinders at installation on the block of cylinders. If you will get them, establish in the place specified fig. 410, i.e. on the "cold" party of the engine. Otherwise it is necessary to make adjusting screws which should be screwed in the specified places in order that it is correct to combine laying and a head of the block of cylinders. Also in drawing the directing plug which should be located in the unit is shown.
Carefully clear surfaces of a head of the block of cylinders and units.
Laying should be taken out from packing directly ahead of the installation and to address with it it is necessary very carefully. Put laying on a head of the block of cylinders and put on a head of the block of cylinders the block of cylinders.
Put on a head of the block of cylinders both directing screws (see fig. 410 ), establish directing plug and обстучите its plastic or rubber hammer.
Insert bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders and tighten them by hand.
Turn out both directing screws from the block of cylinders.

Being guided by fig. 411 , gradually tighten bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders in the specified sequence and according to further recommendations:

Prevention
For an inhaling of bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders use only a special 12-faced key, heads of bolts otherwise will be damaged.

- tighten all bolts (see fig. 411 ) in the specified sequence the moment of 40 N · m;
- tighten all bolts (see fig. 411 ) in the specified sequence the moment of 60 N · m;
- in the specified sequence insert a key into each bolt, having remembered situation a vorotka, and tighten each bolt for one approach precisely on a turn quarter, without using thus a dinamometrichesky key. After you will make it on all bolts, tighten them on a turn quarter.

Note
If you are familiar with earlier models of diesel engines, that, possibly, know that earlier bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders were tightened on the engine, heated-up to the working temperature. It is not present more — the head of the block of cylinders is tightened according to the provided instructions.

All further works on installation are carried out in return sequence concerning process of removal (item 17.3.1).
