Repair Sharan/Sharan Volkswagen>> Electric equipment>> Starter>> Removal and starter installation
Removal of a starter carry out in the following order:
- disconnect a "mass" wire from AB conclusion (do not forget about a protective code of a radio tape recorder);
- raise a forward part of the car and establish it on support;
- remove a noise isolation from below a motor compartment;
The course of work has differences for the 2,0-liter engine and for the VR6 engine:
2,0-liter engine

Before disconnecting wires from a starter, remove a black plastic cover and disconnect the electric socket which was under it of the involving relay (fig. 337) ;

- disconnect the socket (plug "50") from the involving relay and unscrew a plug "30" nut (fig. 338) and unbend a wire aside;

- unscrew nuts and bolts of fastening of a starter. The nut (fig. 339) is wound on an adjusting pin;
- remove a starter.
Installation of a starter carry out as it should be, the return to removal, carrying out the following:

- tighten a nut (fig. 340) of fastening of a starter the moment of 45 N · m;
- pay attention to correctness of accession of wires;
- tighten a nut (see fig. 339 ) (45 N located over already tightened moment · m a nut) the moment of 10 N · m;
- tighten a plug "30" nut the moment of 10 N · m;
- connect AB and enter a protective code of a radio tape recorder and at once check starter work.
Removal and starter installation from the car with the VR6 engine
On the Sharan car with the VR6 engine removal and installation of a starter is carried out in the way described above, however because starter fastening differs a little, there are following features:

- the starter fastens on the VR6 engine from a manual transmission by means of a bolt 2 (fig. 341) and nuts 1 (at installation they are tightened by the moment of 45 N · м);

- on the VR6 engine with an automatic transmission the starter fastens nuts on adjusting pins. At starter installation the nut ( fig. 342 , it is shown by an arrow) is tightened by the moment of 60 N · m;

- tighten the bottom nut ( fig. 343 , it is shown by an arrow) starter fastenings to the VR6 engine from an automatic transmission the moment of 60 N · m;

- tighten a nut (the shooter, fig. 344 ), fixing the holder of a wire the moment of 10 N · m, and a plug "30" nut the moment of 10 N · m.
