Pressure of oil in the engine can be checked by means of a manometer with an adapter which can be twisted instead of the switch of pressure of oil.
In the engine the second switch of pressure of oil connected to a warning signal is established. If pressure of oil falls below 0,3 bar, the switch of pressure of oil on 0,3 bar is closed, and the control lamp of insufficient pressure of oil in system of greasing of the engine thus lights up. If pressure of oil falls below 0,2 bars, and frequency of rotation more than for a second remains equal 2000 mines-1, works the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar. The control lamp of insufficient pressure of oil in system of greasing of the engine lights up and the sound signal sounds. The switch of pressure of oil on 0,3 bar is located in the block of cylinders and has brown isolation; the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar is located in the top part of a socle of the filter.
At control it is necessary to check both switches, however it is possible to establish only, whether these switches in general work or not. Check of work both the switch of pressure of oil is carried out on HUNDRED;
- check and if necessary correct oil level;
- include ignition. The control lamp of pressure of oil should flash,
- start the engine, the control lamp of pressure of oil should go out;
- disconnect a cable from the switch of pressure of oil on 0,3 bar [30 kPas] (the switch of pressure of oil with brown isolation) and put the cable end to "weight". The control lamp of pressure of oil should light up;
- establish a shtekerny block;
- disconnect a shtekerny block from the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar [90 kPas] (the switch of pressure of oil with white isolation).
- let's work to the engine more than 1 second at frequency of rotation more than 2000 mines-1. The control lamp of pressure of oil should light up and work a sound signal.

The described operations on check of switches of pressure of oil, allow to establish that switches of pressure of oil are serviceable and well work. For check of pressure of oil recommended Volkswagen a manometer 1342 is used. The mode of operation is specified by this or similar device fig. 458 :
- disconnect the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar [90 kPas] (with white isolation) and establish a manometer;
- attach a manometer instead of the switch of pressure of oil in the filter basis;
- disconnect a wire with brown isolation from the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar [90 kPas] and connect a dark blue wire 1;
- connect a control lamp 2 to a cable 1 and to the plug «+» AB;
- connect a brown cable 3 manometers to weight;
- include ignition;
- start the engine. As soon as the manometer will show pressure 0,15 — 0,45 bar [15 — 45 kPas] the control lamp should go out. Otherwise replace the switch of pressure of oil with the new.
Procedure for test of the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar [90 kPas]:
- disconnect a wire 1 (fig. 458) from the switch of pressure of oil on 0,3 bar [30 kPas] and connect it to the switch of pressure of oil on 0,9 bar [90 kPas] (the switch of pressure of oil with white isolation).
- start the engine, and gradually increase frequency of rotation. If at pressure not less than 0,75 — 1,05 bar [75 — 105 kPas] the control lamp does not light up, replace the switch of pressure of oil;
- increase frequency of rotation of the engine to 2000 mines-1 — pressure should be not less than 2,0 bar [200 kPas]. Replace or repair the oil pump if pressure of oil less or falls below 0,2 bar [20 kPas].
