Removal and installation of the pump of water cooling of the VR6 engine is a laborious work. For this purpose it is necessary to turn out bolts of fastening of support of an engine mount, to dismantle the engine and a transmission from their fastenings, to raise the power plant as it is possible further from a motor compartment of the car.
Before the beginning of works on removal of the water pump pay attention to the following recommendations:
- if in the car there is a radio tape recorder before disconnecting AB plugs be convinced that have at itself its protective code;
- disconnect AB not earlier, than through 20 with the ambassador of switching off of ignition. It guarantees that so-called «the hot wire» in a flowmeter of air ceased to function;
AB should be disconnected only at the switched-off ignition to avoid damage of EBU of system of ignition and injection;
- at replacement of the water pump, probably, it is required to replace and cooling liquid in case it already was in system a long time.
Removal of the water pump of the VR6 engine carry out in the following order:

- having turned out a drain stopper 23 (fig. 190) in the pipeline of 24 systems of the cooling, going along the engine, merge cooling liquid. Then at once screw a stopper of a drain opening;
- disconnect an exhaust pipe from the catalyst. Nuts can be thrown out at once as it is necessary to replace them with the new;
- disconnect a fuel hose from a head of the block of cylinders;
- remove VN wires from spark plugs and remove VN directing wires from the coil of ignition and from a pipe. Unscrew bolts of fastening of the central cover and remove it;
- completely remove the case of the air filter;
- remove an air flowmeter;

Note
If plugs are not removed from AB yet, check, that ignition was switched off at least 20 with back.

- remove a maple belt;
- remove a vacuum hose from a regulator of pressure of supply of fuel (the top part of an inlet collector);
- disconnect conducting to the amplifier of a brake drive the vacuum hose located in the top part of an inlet collector;

- disconnect a shtekerny block (fig. 191) of the sensor of temperature of cooling liquid and turn out the sensor from the top part of an inlet collector;
- fix the engine for the corresponding loops and by means of the lift raise the engine a little so that to unload its suspension bracket;
- remove the right forward support of an engine mount;
- slowly lower the right part of the engine (drive) until then that the pulley of the water pump became available. Thus watch, that there were tense no places of connections, pipelines, wires, hoses etc.;
- fix a pulley of the water pump in motionless situation, unscrew bolts of fastening and remove a pulley;
- unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the water pump. To take the pump, remove the engine a little to the left to release a little place, and take out the pump. The sealing ring thus still is on the pump and it is necessary to replace it with the new.

Note
Check the pump after removal on existence of places of leakage of oil (which are noted by a rust more often) and turn a nave to estimate a bearing condition.

Installation of the water pump carry out to sequences, return to removal, carrying out the following recommendations:
- tighten bolts of fastening of the pump the moment of 20 N · m, and bolts of fastening of a pulley the moment of 25 N · m;
- put on a driving belt and adjust its tension (see подразд. 4.7).
